AI Misinformation Correction

Last updated

Short answer

AI Misinformation Correction identifies every place an AI engine states something factually wrong about your business - wrong hours, services, pricing, location or claims - shows the exact engine and verbatim answer, and gives you the correction steps for the sources feeding it.

What is included

  • Detects wrong hours, services, pricing, location and claims
  • Shows the exact engine and answer where the error appeared
  • Correction outreach steps for Google Business Profile, Bing Places and Apple
  • Covers the data aggregators that feed the assistants

Why wrong is worse than absent

If an engine does not name you, you lose a chance. If an engine names you and states the wrong hours, the wrong service area or a price you do not charge, you lose the customer after they have already decided to choose you - and you never find out why they did not arrive.

Misinformation is also stickier than absence. Once a wrong fact is repeated across a few sources, engines treat the repetition as corroboration and become more confident in it, not less.

Where wrong facts come from

Almost never from nowhere. There is nearly always a source, and it is usually one of a small number of feeds.

  • A stale Google Business Profile or Bing Places listing
  • Apple Business Connect data that was never claimed
  • Directory and aggregator records carrying an old address or phone number
  • Your own site contradicting itself between pages - hours in a footer that disagree with a contact page
  • Outdated third-party articles the engine still trusts

How correction works

We give you the verbatim answer, the engine that produced it, and the most likely upstream source. Then we give you the specific correction path for that source - what to claim, what to edit, and what to make consistent on your own site so the corrected fact is reinforced rather than contradicted.

Because the fix is upstream, it usually improves several engines at once. Consistency across your site and the major listing platforms is the single highest-leverage input to whether AI trusts a fact about you.

Frequently asked questions

Does misinformation correction cost extra?

No. It is included in every AEO Visibility Audit at no additional charge.

Can you force ChatGPT to correct a wrong fact about my business?

No one can force a model output, and you should be wary of anyone claiming otherwise. What works is correcting the upstream sources and making your own site unambiguous, then re-measuring to confirm the engines have re-learned it.

How long does a correction take to show up?

Engines with live retrieval can reflect a corrected listing within days. Facts baked into model training data move much more slowly, which is why we re-measure rather than promise a date.
